23 July 2026 | Shoring Wall Incident
On Wednesday 22 July 2026, a section of a temporary shoring wall at the former Ashmore Precinct construction site, near the corner of Mitchell Road and MacDonald Street, Erskineville, partially collapsed during remediation and early works. No injuries were sustained.
The site’s principal contractor has undertaken immediate stabilisation and rectification works and continues to manage the matter with specialist engineers and SafeWork NSW.
Independent engineering advice has confirmed that the footings and foundations of neighbouring buildings are outside the zone of influence of the affected section of the shoring wall.
